This weekend, crews from DPFD stopped by the Saint Cyrils and Methodius Family Festival, standing ready as always, but also enjoying the community spirit that makes Deer Park so special. 🎢🎠
From sweet treats and exciting rides to spending time with neighbors and friends, it was a reminder that community is what it’s all about. 🍭🎡
We are always here you Deer Park - 24/7, no matter what. 🚒🚑
Over the past few weeks, your Deer Park Fire Department has been hard at work responding to emergencies and keeping our community safe. Here’s a quick look at our most recent calls:
📅 Tuesday, July 22 – Crews responded to a reported residential fire. Upon arrival, we found a wood deck actively burning. Firefighters worked quickly to contain the flames, preventing the fire from spreading to the home.
📅 Friday, August 8 – The department was dispatched to a fully involved automobile fire. Our team arrived on scene and rapidly brought the blaze under control, preventing further hazards.
✅ These incidents are a reminder of the importance of quick response times, teamwork, and fire safety awareness. Thank you to our dedicated firefighters for their commitment, and to our community for your continued support!
The Deer Park Fire Department is committed to ensuring the safety and security of both our neighborhoods and commercial spaces. We strive to protect every home and business with dedication, and today, we kindly seek your support.
As a volunteer fire department, we rely heavily on your generous tax deductible donations to continue our essential work. Funds raised are crucial for acquiring vital firefighting equipment, enhancing training programs for our volunteers, and maintaining the readiness to respond to emergencies quickly and effectively.
As your neighbors, we understand the financial challenges many face, and we sincerely appreciate any support you can provide, big or small. For our business community, your involvement crucial, and makes a direct impact on our ability to safeguard the places where you conduct your trade and enterprise.
And to all that call Deer Park home, if financial contributions are not an option, we invite you to join our mission as a volunteer. Your time and skills are incredibly valuable and help us strengthen our community’s safety net.

This summer, your Deer Park firefighters have been putting in the WORK to make sure we’re ready for anything. Here’s how we’ve been sharpening our skills for YOU:
🔥 Burn Drill – We suited up and went into the heat, practicing how to get in fast, search for anyone trapped, and cut off a fire before it spreads. Staying low through smoke, moving with purpose, and making every second count – because lives depend on it.
🧯 Foam Training – Not all fires can be fought with water. We trained with firefighting foam – the go-to tool for stubborn blazes like oil spills, car fires, and electric vehicle batteries. It smothers flames, cuts off oxygen, and keeps fires from reigniting.
⚡ PSEG Electrical Safety – Power lines and electricity play by their own rules – and they can be deadly. We learned exactly what to spot in an electrical emergency, how to stay safe, and how to protect YOU when wires are down. Big thanks to @dixhillsfd for teaming up with us for this one and to @psegli for hosting this training.
💻 Ongoing Online Training – Even off the drill field, our members are learning – from safe emergency vehicle driving to staying sharp with our tools and equipment. Training never stops.
Because when the call comes in, there’s no time to prepare – we prepare NOW. 💪🔥
On July 28, 2025, the Deer Park Fire Department ambulance crew 1-4-5 responded to a call for a woman in labor. Paramedic Medic Nelson Lopez and EMT Rob VanCise arrived quickly and began transporting the patient to Stony Brook University Hospital.
While en route, it became clear the baby could not wait. The crew pulled over on Route 347 in Smithtown near Terry Road where they safely delivered a baby boy in the back of the ambulance.
They were joined at the scene by Medic Erick Elkowitz from the Smithtown Fire Department, ironically is also an employee with us. Smithtown FD also provided additional support with an engine and two of their chiefs.
Mother and baby were then transported to Stony Brook University Hospital. Both are doing well.
To Crew 1-4-5 — Paramedic Nelson Lopez and EMT Rob VanCise — your courage, calm, and care in a moment of pure uncertainty brought life into the world. You were the right team at the right time.
To Smithtown Fire Department, thank you for answering the call and standing by our side. Your support helped bring strength and safety in the minutes that followed.
And to that brand new baby boy — welcome to the world. You were born in the hands of heroes. ... See MoreSee Less
