John Caldwell Sr. a 49 year member of the Deer Park Fire Department, Company 4 has passed away. “Firefighter John Caldwell Sr. was more than just a brave firefighter. He was a person with a heart of gold, always with a smile and the first one to shake your hand.” We mourn the loss of a dedicated member of our department and community.

On Tuesday night, the chiefs office held the first annual probationary firefighter family night at the departments training facility. The probationary firefighters performed skills in our training building with live fire and smoke, demonstrating extinguishing a residential house fire in front of family members. Following the live fire scenario the probationary firefighters, firefighters, officers, and families enjoyed a bbq cooked by the chiefs office.

This morning at 2:39 am our department was activated for a mutual aid request to the Wyandanch Fire Company for a residential structure fire. Upon arrival, our crew stretched a 1 3/4 handline assisting with fire extinguishment. Our department responded with Chief of Department Robert Macaluso, 2nd Assistant Chief Vincent Jackson and quint 1-4–14.
The Deer Park Fire Department regrets to announce the passing of Ex-Captain John Schwier. Ex-Captain John Schwier served and protected the Deer Park community in engine company #2 for 51 years. He is a World War II and Korean War Navy Veteran.
